The Computer Shop featured on Bitdefender Case Study

On being introduced to the BitDefender suite of antivirus and Internet security products, Dave Mason of The Computer Shop was so impressed that he decided to install it for the business as well as his own staff's computers. Find out why after three years of working together BitDefender is still his security software suite of choice, and sole recommendation for all new customers... Frustration for Broadband users
Dave Mason assistant manager at The Computer Shop Colwyn Bay is quoted in a recent BBC Wales news article after the recent BT
Internet outage in Llanelian and Betws yn Rhos.
After much frustration and in some cases hours spent on the phone with BT's helpdesk we had several customers bring their PC's into our Colwyn Bay workshop and several others requesting call-outs to their homes, on the advice from BT that the problem lay with the customers equipment and not their service.
After four days one customer decided enough was enough and took his plight to BBC Wales News and here is the result-

Faulty Screens and Toshiba A200

Keeping with the theme of screen repairs this month it seems, but we had an interesting fault with a Toshiba A200 15.4" widescreen last week. The symptoms were what you would typically expect from a faulty panel with the laptop powering and working perfectly on an external monitor via the 15-pin SVGA connection, but the laptop screen remaining black (note: not dim which would be a defective screen inverter).
After trying a new screen and finding the same fault, our technicians decided to swap out the screen cable, with the original screen and hey presto!
Why would this happen? Well it's actually quite a common fault and is a result of the stresses put on the cable when opening and closing the lid, it's not possible to repair the cable and will need to be replaced to facilitate a repair.
What's the point of this blog I hear you ask? Well because of the range of parts we have in stock we will only ever charge our customers for parts that actually need replacing - had our Toshiba A200 customer chosen to attempt this repair himself, or had the repair been undertaken by less experienced workshops ordering parts in as faults are discovered, it would have been likely he would have had to pay for a screen and cable!
If you would like to find out more about how we can help bring your laptop back to life, please do not hesitate to contact us.
